All species throughout the galaxy have old people, and all insist that once their contributions to the galaxy have ceased, these old people must be put away in a home to live out their remaining days together.
The main problem with this is due to some very simple, and actually legal, genetic engineering, the lifespan of every species in the Galactic System Federation has been at least doubled. For some years the GSF refused to change their retirement and pension laws and numerous nursing homes became over run by retired 70 yeard old youngsters. Many homes were built and over the last few centuries have been in decline due to their original residents having finally found peace after more than 100 years of complaining about not having athritis and still having their original teeth.
